The Katsina State government has distributed over N50 million to victims of bandit attacks in the Matazu, Kankia, and Batsari local government areas.
Saidu Ibrahim Danja, the Senior Special Assistant on Victims of Banditry and Internally Displaced Persons, presented the funds to the beneficiaries, emphasizing that the disbursement was not meant as compensation, but as a form of support to alleviate the victims’ hardships.
Danja explained that the funds were released based on an assessment of the affected individuals in these three local government areas, following a directive from Governor Dikko Umar Radda. He noted that the administration has consistently provided similar assistance over the past two years to families who lost loved ones and others impacted by bandit attacks.
Additionally, Danja urged the people of Katsina to pray for an end to insecurity in the state and to assist security agencies by providing intelligence on criminal hideouts.
Musa Maikudi, Chairman of Kankia Local Government, encouraged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously. He also commended the state government for its proactive efforts in addressing insecurity and supporting affected communities.
This initiative highlights the government’s ongoing commitment to alleviating the suffering of those impacted by banditry in Katsina State.
