The new Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has pledged to reclaim Kano State for the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections.
Ata made this commitment during a media briefing in Kano over the weekend, marking his first visit to the state since his appointment to the Federal Executive Council.
Ata acknowledged that his appointment carries a strong political mandate. “My appointment is primarily for political reasons. APC has lost Kano, and now it’s time to bring it back. The main challenge lies in Kano Central, which is my constituency,” he stated, according to *Daily Trust.*
Although Ata’s ministerial post is within the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, he emphasized his commitment to strengthening APC’s position in Kano.
“Though my post is within the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, I plan to return to Kano weekly to focus on our political strategy. I’ll work hard in this role while dedicating significant effort to re-establishing APC’s control of the state,” he said.
Ata expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment, describing it as an opportunity to serve both Kano and Nigeria. He assured President Tinubu of his commitment to the party’s success in Kano, stating, “Come 2027, Kano will be back in APC’s fold. This is my promise to the President and the party.”
