The lawmaker representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, has inaugurated key projects aimed at improving healthcare and education in the Fadan Ninzo and Fadan Kamantan communities of Sanga and Zangon Kataf local government areas in Kaduna State.
The projects, commissioned over the weekend, underscore his commitment to grassroots development.
The initiatives include the renovation and equipping of a rural hospital in Fadan Ninzo and the construction of a fully equipped science laboratory at Government Secondary School, Fadan Kamantan. These efforts seek to address critical gaps in healthcare and education for rural residents, particularly women and children, according to Nigerian Tribune.
The rural hospital, originally built in 1983, had suffered significant neglect and was in dire need of repairs. During the handover of the renovated facility to the Kaduna State Government, Senator Katung highlighted the alarming rates of child and maternal mortality in the area as a driving force behind the project. He affirmed his dedication to enhancing healthcare access for his constituents, stating that the improved facility would significantly reduce healthcare challenges in the region.
In addition to healthcare, the newly constructed science laboratory represents a significant step forward in boosting education in the district. Senator Katung emphasized the importance of providing students with modern facilities to prepare them for a competitive and technologically advanced world, describing the projects as symbols of hope and progress for the community.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on House Services, Daniel Amos, commended the senator for prioritizing the needs of the community. He encouraged residents to support their leaders through constructive feedback and prayers rather than unwarranted criticism.
The paramount ruler of Fadan Ninzo Chiefdom, Alhaji Umar Musa, expressed gratitude for the renovation of the healthcare facility. He also appealed for the construction of an access road to the center to ease the challenges posed by poor road conditions.
Receiving the facility on behalf of the Kaduna State Government, Dr. Mohammed Jamo, Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board, acknowledged the impact of the project. He assured the community of the government’s commitment to providing additional staff and equipment to meet the healthcare needs of the area.
The commissioning of these projects marks a significant milestone in Senator Katung’s efforts to improve the quality of life for rural communities, with a focus on addressing critical gaps in healthcare and education.
He said, “The newly constructed and equipped science laboratory marks a significant milestone in our efforts to provide a quality education that prepares our students for success in an increasingly complex, competitive, and technological world. We have reaffirmed our commitment to providing an environment conducive to academic excellence, innovation, and creativity.
“The buildings are more than just a physical structure; they represent hope and a brighter future for our community,” he said.
