Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has commended his opponent and main challenger during the last governorship election in the state, Isah Ashiru from the Peoples Democratic Party, for exhausting all legal means to challenge the victory of the governor.
Sani who made the commendation while speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, said the Ashiru has done the right thing, by seeking legal means, to address the issue.
According to the governor, what the PDP candidate has done, was the role of democracy.
The Supreme Court on Friday, affirmed the judgments of the Tribunal and the Court of Appeal, which upheld the election of Sani as the winner of the March 2023 governorship election in the state.
The apex court dismissed the appeal filed by Ashiru, seeking to set aside the appeal court judgment, which affirmed the governor’s election.
Reacting during the interview, the governor said, “I want to use this opportunity to thank my brother and friend, Isah Ashiru, at least for embracing the legal process and venting his anger by going to the Supreme Court at this critical time.
“If you remember, he was at the tribunal. After the tribunal, he ran to the Court of Appeal, after the Court of Appeal, now the Supreme Court. For me, what he did was commendable. That is the role of democracy.
“If you are not satisfied, you should approach the judiciary. Of course, that was what he did.”
