Again, court rejects Kanu’s bail application

Nnamdi Kanu: Appeal court slave to FG, HURIWA kicks

IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has again lost the suit praying the court to grant him bail.

This was contained in a tweet by Kanu’s counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, who expressed sadness at the development.

Justice Binta Nyako, the presiding judge at the Abuja Federal High Court, denied the IPOB’s leader bail on Tuesday, stating that he has not provided sufficient reasons to warrant the court to set aside its previous order.

Ejimakor announcing the court ruling said, “Sadly, the Judge has denied bail to #MNK on grounds that “for 4 years, nothing was filed” in her court to explain why Onyedu did not attend his trial.

“She said she is open to considering a new application for bail and she granted a stay of the criminal proceedings.”

Kanu was re-arrested in June 2021 and brought back to Nigeria from Kenya. He has since been re-arraigned for terrorism-related charges which he denied.
