Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has suffered another devastating loss, as his eldest son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi, died in a motor accident on Thursday.
This tragedy comes barely a day after the governor buried his mother, Maryam Namadi, who passed away on Wednesday following a brief illness.
Reports indicate that Abdulwahab, 24, was involved in the accident while traveling from Kafin Hausa to Dutse with his friends. The vehicle he was driving reportedly lost control and somersaulted. While Abdulwahab did not survive, some of his friends were injured and are currently receiving treatment at Dutse General Hospital.
In a statement released to the media, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Gumel, confirmed the heartbreaking incident, “With a heavy heart, Governor Umar Namadi announces the passing of his beloved son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi. The 24-year-old departed this world on Thursday, December 26, 2024, due to a ghastly motor accident along the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road.
“The burial rites are currently underway in Kafin Hausa town in accordance with Islamic traditions.”
The statement further noted that Abdulwahab is survived by his parents, Governor Umar Namadi and his wife, alongside his siblings.
It also highlighted the proximity of the two tragedies the family has endured, “This tragic incident comes just a day after the governor mourned the passing of his mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi.”
The news has sent ripples across Jigawa State, with residents, political associates, and well-wishers expressing their condolences to the governor and his family during this difficult time.
