Former United States President Donald Trump has introduced a new immigration initiative known as the “gold card” program, which offers wealthy foreign nationals a pathway to U.S. residency and citizenship in exchange for a $5 million investment.
Trump explained that the initiative is designed to attract high-net-worth investors, with the goal of stimulating the U.S. economy through increased spending, tax contributions, and job creation.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed that the program would replace the existing EB-5 visa system. He also emphasised that it would include stringent vetting procedures to ensure that only qualified applicants gain entry.
When asked whether Russian oligarchs would be eligible to apply, Trump responded, “Yeah, possibly. I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people.”
