President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that he will not investigate Nigeria’s security chiefs, expressing confidence in their work and underscoring the importance of respecting the institution.
During a media chat with journalists on Monday, Tinubu was asked whether he would probe the security chiefs due to the ongoing security challenges in the country.
He firmly replied that he would not be probing any of the service chiefs, emphasizing that the institution should not be disrespected, especially in the context of a potential investigation.
He further highlighted that fighting insecurity requires significant investment in technology and weaponry.
The president acknowledged the difficult conditions under which the security forces operate and praised their efforts, asserting that there was no need for any probe. Tinubu also expressed his belief in the effectiveness of the current security architecture, noting improvements in travel safety compared to previous years.
He recognized the enormous challenges faced by security forces in a vast country with significant ungoverned spaces, including forests.
Tinubu commended the security forces for their dedication and expressed pride in their achievements, stating that a probe was unnecessary given the progress they had made.
“I’m not probing any service chief. You cannot disrespect the institution because of the threat of probe, and you cannot fight this war without investment in technology, in weaponry.
“They are living and operating in a very serious condition. We have huge country, a very huge one, and lots of forests, unoccupied spaces.
” Give them credit for what they are doing, I am proud of what they are doing today. No need to probe,” he said.
