Governor Chukwuma Soludo has unveiled the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025 and launched a 2,000-man special security operation codenamed “Udo Ga-AchÈ” as part of his administration’s efforts to combat criminality and enhance public safety across the state.
During the launch, the governor also announced the creation of Agunechemba, a new vigilante structure designed to operate at both community and local government levels. He highlighted the integration of advanced technology, including an AI-powered surveillance system, a command-and-control centre, and a cutting-edge tracking system, to strengthen the state’s security management.
Governor Soludo explained that the Udo Ga-AchÈ special intervention force comprises 2,000 personnel drawn from the police, army, navy, civil defence, Department of State Services, and Agunechemba. The task force’s primary mission is to eliminate criminal elements and restore peace across Anambra State.
Addressing attendees at the launch, Soludo emphasised the critical role of security in achieving his administration’s vision of a liveable and prosperous homeland. He stressed that the ongoing transformation in Anambra across various sectors must be supported by a robust and efficient security system.
“We are determined to fight criminality and ensure that Anambra becomes the safest state in Nigeria,” Soludo declared.
He acknowledged the changing nature of criminal activities in the Southeast and across Nigeria, describing them as increasingly complex and multifaceted. Soludo called for a thoughtful and comprehensive approach to tackle these challenges, combining kinetic and non-kinetic strategies.
“The new law establishes a robust security system with zero tolerance for criminality, while this special operation is designed to enhance intelligence gathering, reward whistleblowers, and improve rapid response mechanisms,” he stated.
Governor Soludo expressed confidence in the ability of Udo Ga-AchÈ and the newly introduced measures to create a safer environment for Anambra residents, reaffirming his commitment to a secure and prosperous state.
