President Bola Tinubu has extended a warm birthday tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, who turned 82 on Monday.
In a statement personally signed by him, President Tinubu commended Buhari’s dedication, resilience, and leadership, acknowledging the former president’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s development.
“I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to you on your 82nd Birthday,” Tinubu wrote.
He lauded Buhari’s steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s unity and advancement, describing his leadership as an enduring source of inspiration. “As you celebrate this remarkable milestone in Daura, we reflect on your years of dedicated service and leadership, which have significantly shaped the course of our nation.”
Tinubu also highlighted Buhari’s resilience during his political journey, noting his perseverance through three unsuccessful presidential bids before his eventual victories in 2015 and 2019. “Your doggedness and resilience in contesting presidential elections in 2003, 2007, and 2011 before winning them in 2015 and 2019 also inspire us never to give up.”
The president pledged to build on the infrastructure legacy Buhari left behind, which he credited as a cornerstone of the All Progressives Congress’ administration. “I will continue to build on the infrastructure legacy you bequeathed to our nation as the leader of our country’s first All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.”
Concluding his tribute, Tinubu wished Buhari a joyous birthday celebration surrounded by loved ones and good health. “On this special day, may you be surrounded by the love of your family and friends and continue to enjoy good health, happiness, and fulfilment in all your endeavours, now and in the future.
