The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced a change in the commencement date for the commercial operations of the Abuja Rail Mass Transit System, also known as the Abuja Light Rail.
According to a statement signed by FCT Director of Press, Tony Ogunleye, the new launch date is now scheduled for Wednesday, May 29, 2024, which is Democracy Day.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to flag off the commercial operations at 1:00 pm on the same day, according to Daily Post.
This development marks a significant milestone in the nation’s transportation infrastructure, offering a modern and efficient transportation solution for residents and visitors in the Federal Capital Territory.
“The flag-off ceremony was earlier scheduled for Monday, 27th of May, 2024.
“This flag-off of the commencement of commercial operations is part of celebrations marking the first year anniversary of the administration of President Bola Tinubu,” it stated.
