Former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju-Kennedy Ohanenye, has revealed that she continues to pursue the cases she was handling prior to her removal from office, despite being sacked by President Bola Tinubu.
During an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, Uju-Kennedy emphasised that her dismissal did not affect her commitment to her goals and aspirations. “I was sacked, but my visions remain; my visions were not sacked,” she stated.
She explained that her work as an advocate for the underprivileged and marginalised has continued unabated. “I have been doing all those I was doing when I was the minister of women’s affairs. I still go to court to defend the people that can’t defend themselves, that don’t have money to get a lawyer. I am still handling all the cases I had before I left, and they are quite sensitive cases, so I couldn’t just abandon them.”
Uju-Kennedy was among five ministers removed by Tinubu during a cabinet reshuffle in October 2024. The reshuffle, which was part of an effort to optimise the administration’s performance, resulted in the replacement of key members of the Federal Executive Council.
Despite her exit from the cabinet, the former minister’s statements underscore her continued dedication to her causes, particularly in providing legal assistance to those in need.
