Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, begged to become the Peoples Democratic Party Publicity Secretary.
Adeyanju, along with Vincent Martins Otse (known as VeryDarkMark), court Wike’s trouble after they led a protest last Friday against the demolition of Ruga, a settlement along the Airport Road in Abuja.
Expressing his disapproval, Adeyanju stated, “There is no justification for this demolition,” and urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene swiftly on the matter.
Responding to the protest, Wike, during an interview with selected journalists on Wednesday, dismissed Adeyanju’s concerns, describing him as “jobless.”
The former Rivers State governor revealed that he had previously declined Adeyanju’s request for the position of PDP’s spokesperson.
“He is from Kogi State,” Wike remarked, adding, “This young boy came to me that he wants to be the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP and I said no. I said he wouldn’t be, and he was not. I have no regret about it. He has suddenly become a civil society activist. He has no job, and that’s why he decided to turn to a civil society activist.”
