Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State approved the appointments of five parastatal heads and one technical adviser on Thursday.
The announcement was made through a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula.
The governor appointed Daniel Amine as the Director-General of the Benue Geographical Information System.
Prior to this role, Amine, who holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, was a lecturer at Joseph Sawuan Tarka University in Makurdi.
Rebecca Afaityo was named the General Manager of the Community and Social Development Agency. Afaityo, who holds an MSc and an MBA in Management, brings a wealth of experience in community development.
She has previously served as a village extension officer and chairperson of the Initiatives for Empowerment of Vulnerable Persons in Society, among other projects.
Michael Uper was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Benue State Sports Marketing and Lottery Board. Uper, before his appointment, was a consultant for the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Creativity in Benue State.
Governor Alia also appointed Erdoo Mongol as the Managing Director of the Benue State Geo-Mining Company Nigeria Limited. Mongol, a geoscientist with over 14 years of experience in mining, mineral exploration, regulation, and climate sciences, is expected to bring her expertise to the role.
In addition, the governor approved the separation of the Solid Minerals Department from the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals, elevating it to the status of a Bureau for Solid Minerals. Stephen Utah, the Governor’s Principal Special Assistant on Solid Minerals, was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the new Bureau.
Also, Tsokar Terfa was appointed as the Technical Adviser on Land Matters. Terfa, who served as the Surveyor General of Benue State between 2021 and 2023, is expected to bring his expertise in land issues to the role.
Governor Alia urged all appointees to apply their skills, experience, and competencies in their new positions.
