The federal government has announced plans to harness technology to promote the country’s rich cultural heritage and natural attractions to a global audience.
Speaking at the 2024 Hotel Expo Nigeria on Wednesday, the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, emphasized the crucial role of innovative hospitality in driving the industry’s growth.
She noted that Nigeria offers a unique blend of experiences, from its vibrant culture to its breathtaking natural wonders.
Ade-John stressed that the government is committed to reimagining the tourism experience, making it more accessible and welcoming to visitors, according to Leadership.
She highlighted the importance of collaboration within the hospitality and tourism value chain, echoing the sentiments of Lai Mohammed, Special Advisor to the UN Secretary-General on Tourism.
The event, which brought together industry stakeholders and experts, aimed to promote Nigeria’s hospitality and tourism sector, recognizing the symbiotic relationship between the two.
Convener Joe Hanson emphasized that hospitality is the foundation of tourism, and that Nigeria’s success in the industry hinges on its ability to provide a warm and welcoming experience to visitors.
Ade-John said, “Nigeria offers a world of experiences. We are not just opening our doors to visitors, we are reimagining how they can step through them. Innovative hospitality is not a luxury, it’s the cornerstone of Nigeria’s tourism culture.”
