The All Farmers Association of Nigeria has distanced itself from a viral statement allegedly made by one of its members, which claimed the association had endorsed Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 presidential election.
In an official statement, signed by Dr. Rabiu Farouk Mudi, the National President, and Dr. Mambila, the National Secretary, AFAN clarified that the endorsement claim did not originate from the association and does not reflect its official position.
The statement emphasized that the post in question was made by an unauthorized member, Ado A. Ado Kano, and the views expressed therein are solely those of the author. AFAN reiterated that such opinions do not represent the stance of the organization, its administrators, or its members.
“For official statements, please refer to AFAN’s official contacts or platforms,” the statement read.
AFAN also dismissed the unofficial posters circulating, stating they do not represent the organization in any way. The association made it clear that the post by Ado A. Ado Kano was neither authorized nor endorsed by the All Farmers Association of Nigeria or its officials.
The All Farmers Association of Nigeria serves as the umbrella organization for all farmers’ commodity associations in the country. Its primary goal is to unite all Nigerian agricultural producers into one organization and provide a unified voice for the farming community in addressing agricultural issues with the government.
AFAN was established through the merger of the All-Farmers Association of Nigeria and the National Farmers’ Association of Nigeria, a move recommended by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The statement reads; “This post is made by an authorized member, Ado A Ado Kano.
“The opinion and views expressed here are those of the author and do not reflect the official policy or position of the group, its administrators, or other members.”
