The Peoples Democratic Party has suspended its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, and National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, due to alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension was confirmed by Ibrahim Abdullahi, the acting National Publicity Secretary, who stated that Ologunagba’s actions conflicted with the party’s interests, particularly regarding the political tensions in Rivers State.
Ologunagba’s suspension was triggered by his public statement encouraging participation in the Rivers State Local Government elections, despite ongoing legal disputes. This stance went against the party’s official position.
The National Working Committee voted 8-4 in favor of suspending Ologunagba, aiming to maintain discipline and unity within the party. Ajibade’s suspension was also due to similar anti-party activities.
A special committee, led by Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja, has been established to investigate the allegations against both suspended officials, in accordance with the party’s constitution.
The PDP’s decision to suspend its top officials comes amid growing internal conflicts within the party. The move is seen as an attempt to assert control and maintain unity, but its implications remain uncertain.
