The immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Enema Paul, has passed away.
He died in Abuja at a private hospital in the early hours of Saturday after a brief illness, the details of which have not been disclosed.
Before his death, Hon Paul represented the Okura State Constituency in the 8th Assembly of Kogi State.
He had previously stepped down from his role as Deputy Speaker due to health reasons, and was replaced by Hon Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola, the member representing Ibaji State Constituency.
Following the news of his passing, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, expressed his condolences to the family of the late Hon Paul.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed, Rt Hon Yusuf described Hon Paul as a humble, committed, and team-oriented lawmaker. He also praised the deceased for his efforts toward promoting unity in the state and his dedication to passing pro-people legislation aimed at overall development.
The Speaker also highlighted Hon Paul’s strong Christian faith and his commitment to family values, noting that he always prioritized these principles over religious differences. Rt Hon Yusuf prayed for strength and fortitude for the immediate family and members of both the current and past Assemblies during this difficult time.
