A 2019 presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, Chief Charles Udeogaranya, has delivered a proposition on ways President Bola Tinubu can rescue the economy from its current ‘poor’ state.
He lamented the bleak prospects for the Yuletide season, blaming the hardship on what he called poor governance.
In a statement, Udeogaranya urged President Tinubu to draw inspiration from the leadership styles of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and Goodluck Jonathan.
According to him, these leaders prioritized the engagement of competent individuals to advance national interests.
“As president, Tinubu’s foremost responsibility is to ensure that Nigeria succeeds in all aspects. Sadly, the opposite is what we are witnessing,” Udeogaranya remarked.
He cautioned that unless Tinubu abandons the ’emilokan’ (“it’s my turn”) mentality, the suffering of Nigerians under his administration would persist.
Udeogaranya also expressed his readiness to contribute to Nigeria’s progress but noted that his expertise had not been tapped by the current government.
“I don’t need to be the president to make things happen. I only need the president’s ear, and the rest would be history,” he stated.
The former APC aspirant outlined a roadmap for Nigeria’s prosperity, which he referred to as the “3 S’s”—food security, security of lives and property, and housing security. He emphasized that prioritizing these areas would create a solid foundation for national development.
“With these 3 S’s in place, Nigeria will be on its way to greater glory,” Udeogaranya said, assuring Nigerians that he could help direct the nation toward this vision if given the opportunity.
