Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed claims that he has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to join the opposition Peoples Democratic Party .
In a post on his X account on Sunday, El-Rufai rejected the speculation, labeling it as “patient lies” and announcing that he has instructed his lawyers to take legal action against those spreading false information.
He wrote, “Please disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers,” El-Rufai posted on Sunday.
An aide to the former governor also dismissed the claims, describing them as the handiwork of mischief-makers. The aide emphasized that El-Rufai, a prominent figure within the APC, would not have defected to the PDP without making a public announcement.
