The Ekiti State Government has announced the immediate cancellation of its work-from-home policy for civil servants.
Introduced in September of the previous year, the policy allowed public servants to work from home for one to three days a week, depending on their grade level.
The government has now revoked this arrangement, citing the implementation of the new minimum wage for all workers as the primary reason for the change.
A letter from the Office of Establishment and Service Matters, signed by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Funke Ajibola, further explained that the decision aligns with the state’s commitment to enhancing worker welfare and supporting the national economy. The letter instructed all civil servants to return to their offices on Monday.
The work-from-home policy was initially put in place to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on the state’s workforce, a measure that is now being adjusted in response to new developments.
