The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Monisade Afuye, has confirmed the passing of her mother, Olori Esther Iyalaje Adegboye.
In a statement issued to journalists on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, Afuye expressed her deep sorrow over the loss.
According to Afuye, Olori Adegboye, a native of Ikere Ekiti in the Ikere Local Government Area, passed away early Tuesday morning after a prolonged illness. She was 97 years old at the time of her death.
The Deputy Governor described her mother as a devoted leader who made significant contributions to her community. “With heart full of praise and glory to Almighty God, we announce the passing of our matriarch, Olori Iyalaje Adegboye of Akayejo Ruling House of Ikere Kingdom. She died at the early hours of today at the ripe age of 97 years,” Afuye stated.
Olori Adegboye is survived by numerous family members, including children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. While burial arrangements will be communicated later, Afuye honored her mother’s legacy as a compassionate leader who worked tirelessly for the betterment of her community.
Afuye further emphasized the profound impact of her mother on the Ikere Ekiti community and the Akayejo Royal Dynasty, acknowledging her efforts in promoting unity and fostering development. The Deputy Governor concluded her statement with a prayer for the peaceful repose of her late mother and for strength for the family during this difficult time.
