Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed his support for Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Edo State.
Shettima made his remarks at the grand finale campaign rally in Benin City, ahead of the September 21 governorship election.
The Vice President described Okpebholo as a seasoned leader with a proven track record of excellence, assuring the people of Edo State that the Federal Government will work tirelessly to support the incoming government’s development efforts, according to Daily Post.
Shettima emphasized the importance of unity and peace in achieving progress, highlighting the APC’s commitment to putting Edo’s interests above all else.
He noted that the increased allocation to states will provide the incoming government with the resources needed to fund developmental projects.
Other APC leaders, including National Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, and Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River, also canvassed votes for Okpebholo at the rally.
According to him, “I am a man who feels it all and has a story to tell. I understand the struggles of Edo State, and I am committed to being part of the solution.”
In his remarks, the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, urged the electorate to vote en masse for the APC candidate on Sept 21.
“The clouds of intimidation have lifted, and the ground is fertile for our party’s vision to flourish. Edo has become a symbol of literary and economic resurgence,” he stated.
Okpebholo promised to revive the state’s economy, employ 10,000 teachers, and declare a state of emergency on infrastructure, among other campaign pledges. The rally was attended by a large crowd of APC supporters and state governors from across Nigeria.
“Our mumu don do, and by voting for the APC, we are voting for education, security, social infrastructure, good healthcare services, and agriculture.”
“Under agriculture, we are going to provide loans for our farmers and soft loans for our market women,” Okpebholo stated.
