The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has announced a Christmas bonus of ₦150,000 for each civil servant in the state.
This was revealed in a Facebook post by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Monday Uzor, on Thursday night. Uzor stated that the bonus would be paid to all state workers before 1 pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
“Every Worker in Ebonyi State service will receive ₦150,000 as a Christmas Bonus before 1 pm on Tuesday… Gov. Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru,” Uzor’s post read.
This announcement follows Governor Nwifuru’s approval of a new minimum wage for civil servants in Ebonyi State, which came into effect on October 27, 2024.
According to a statement from his spokesman, the governor approved a minimum wage of ₦75,000 for the least-paid civil servants, citing the need to address the economic challenges affecting workers.
“According to the Governor, the least paid Civil Servant on grade level 2 will enjoy a full minimum wage of ₦75,000 while from grade level 3 and above will get incremental of ₦40,000 across board,” the statement read.
Governor Nwifuru emphasised that the wage increase was implemented after a thorough review of the prevailing economic conditions in the country and their impact on workers.
