The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Sir Festus Ahon, on Monday dismissed rumours that the Governor was planning to defect to another political party, labelling them as false and fabricated by certain elements within the opposition in the state.
In a statement issued in Asaba, Ahon explained that these rumours were being peddled by opposition figures who felt threatened by the Governor’s growing popularity and his efforts to foster unity across political divides.
“Governor Oborevwori will continue to collaborate with the government at the centre for the overall benefit of Deltans and the country at large,” Ahon stated, emphasising the Governor’s commitment to working in the best interest of the state.
Ahon further clarified that the Governor had no reason to leave the People’s Democratic Party, citing his wide acceptance within the party and the support of well-meaning Deltans and residents. He stressed that Governor Oborevwori remained fully committed to fulfilling his campaign promises, particularly the MORE Agenda, for the betterment of all Deltans.
He urged the people of Delta State to disregard the circulating rumours, attributing them to the work of mischief-makers and those with ulterior motives.
