A Benue State High Court has issued an exparte order restraining the All Progressives Congress from removing its state chairman, Augustine Agada.
The order, granted by Justice Theresa Igoche, directs the Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje-led National Working Committee to maintain the status quo until the expiration of Agada’s 4-year tenure.
The court order states: “I have looked at the processes filed along with the application, particularly, Exhibit MT ‘1’ attached to the affidavit in support and I am satisfied that the application has merit.”
Justice Igoche declared: “In the circumstances, I hereby grant the application as prayed.”
The order restrains APC from “removing, changing, replacing or howsoever terminating” Agada’s tenure and that of other members of the Benue State Working Committee until their four-year term expires.
The judge ordered that the order be served on APC forthwith, along with the motion on Notice fixed for hearing on the 28th of the month.
The Benue state chapter of APC is divided between Governor Hyacinth Alia, who supports the Benjamin Omakolo-led faction, and Senator George Akume, who supports the Agada-led working committee.
