Former Youth and Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, has expressed concerns over the influence of the cabals surrounding President Bola Tinubu, claiming that they are more dangerous than those around former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dalung, who served as a minister during Buhari’s tenure, made the remarks while appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Tuesday. He discussed the role of powerbrokers in Buhari’s administration, describing Buhari as somewhat of a stranger in his own government due to the dominance of the cabals.
He noted that, unlike the less-educated individuals in Buhari’s inner circle, the cabals around Tinubu are highly educated, sophisticated, and well-versed in the intricacies of power dynamics.
Dalung highlighted the influence these power players have in manipulating the flow of information and controlling access to the president, effectively creating barriers to communication and human interaction with Tinubu.
In a statement made in July 2024, President Tinubu, who narrowly won the 2023 presidential election and was inaugurated on May 29, 2023, had previously asserted that he was not beholden to any cabal or financial elites.
