Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade, has emerged the candidate for the All Progressives Congress Senatorial seat for Cross River North at the National Assembly.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Ayade, who emerged unopposed, was elected at a fresh primary election at the Ogoja Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.
The election followed the voluntary withdrawal of Martins Orim, who won the ticket at the May 28 primary.
Subsequently, Sameera Tabo, Chairperson for the APC Primary Election Committee for Cross River North, declared the governor winner with 252 votes.
According to reports, a total vote of 255 was recorded but three votes were invalid.
Ayade, a two-term governor whose tenure would elapsed next May, had contested the APC presidential primary won by former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu.
