The Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission announced on Sunday that the All Progressives Congress emerged victorious in the Local Government and Councilorship elections held across all 34 Local Government Areas of the state on Saturday.
The election saw participation from five political parties: Accord, African Action Congress African Development Congress, All Progressives Congress, and Booth Party.
While declaring the results, the Chairman of the Commission, Lawal Faskari, explained that the compilation of the election results was delayed because some local governments had not submitted their results on time. However, after receiving the final submissions, the Commission was able to complete the coalition and announce the total results on Sunday.
Faskari confirmed that the APC won both the chairmanship and councillorship elections across all 34 Local Government Areas, securing victories by wide margins.
The KTSIEC Chairman also praised the dedication of the ad-hoc staff who conducted the elections efficiently and within the stipulated time frame. He commended the members and management staff of the Commission for their professionalism and hard work.
In addition, Faskari expressed gratitude to the chairmen of various parties, election observers, and other stakeholders who played crucial roles in supporting the election process.
