The House of Representatives member for Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency in Plateau State, Mr. Ajang Iliya, has officially defected from the Labour Party to the All Progressives Congress.
This move follows a similar defection last week by five other members of the House from the LP.
During Thursday’s plenary session, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas confirmed Iliya’s switch, citing the ongoing crisis within the LP’s leadership and other related concerns as the primary reasons behind his decision.
In a letter detailing his defection, Iliya explained that he found it increasingly difficult to align with the LP’s positions on key issues, prompting his decision to join the APC.
