Akwa Ibom Governor, Umo Eno, has emphasized that the release of funds in the state will be closely linked to specific projects and ideas aimed at benefiting the people.
Governor Eno made this statement during the inaugural ministerial briefing and end-of-year review of his administration in Uyo.
He explained that the briefing served as an opportunity for the government to present its achievements over the past 18 months, describing it as an extended executive council meeting designed to both showcase the administration’s progress and gather fresh ideas, according to Channels TV.
The governor reiterated that funds would only be released for projects aligned with the state’s development goals.
He stressed that the focus would be on initiatives that would have a meaningful impact on the general populace of Akwa Ibom.
Eno also expressed his administration’s openness to constructive criticism, clarifying that such feedback should be aimed at holding the government accountable rather than engaging in smear campaigns. He added that while his administration had made significant strides, it was up to the state’s stakeholders to critically evaluate its achievements. He affirmed that the administration had adhered to the principles of the ARISE Agenda.
Currently, Governor Eno’s administration is focused on three major projects: the Aviation Village, the Ibom Deep Sea Port, and the Ibom Medical City, which are expected to drive economic growth and development in the state.
“Release of funds must be tied to ideas and projects that will benefit the generality of Akwa Ibom people,” he said.
Eno said that his administration was open to constructive criticisms, saying, ”I mean criticisms that will put government on toes, and not smear campaign and condemnation.
“I must say that we have done well. It is left for critical stakeholders to analyse what we have done. We have tried to keep to the ideals of the ARISE Agenda,” he said.
