Human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has warned that former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar, Omoyele Sowore, and Peter Obi may be next on the list for arrest by the Department of State Services.
Adeyanju’s warning comes after the DSS arrested Nigeria Labour Congress President Joe Ajaero at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday.
The activist lawyer alleged that the DSS, under the President Bola Tinubu-led government, would claim that the trio is planning a coup as a pretext for their arrest, according to Daily Post.
Adeyanju condemned the government’s actions, drawing parallels with the regime of former dictator Sani Abacha.
Adeyanju said, “General Bola Ahmed Tinubu: Arrested 2,400 protesters; arrested NLC President; invaded SERAP office.
“Next will be to arrest Atiku, Obi and SOWORE and say they are planning coup. Abacha must be proud. Kudos General Bola, more please.”
