Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment as part of efforts to drive economic growth and development.
The governor made this known during a meeting in Akure with the management board of Sahara Energy. The company was recently licensed by the Federal Government, through the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, to manage two new oil fields, PPL 270 and PPL 271, located in the riverine communities of Ilaje Local Government Area.
Expressing gratitude for Sahara Energy’s investment commitment, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured the company of the state’s full support.
“Ondo State is fortunate at this time,” Aiyedatiwa said. “Although the licenses are issued by the Federal Government, we assure you of our full support to ensure your activities flourish.
“We remain committed to maintaining Ondo as the safest state in the country and fostering an investor-friendly climate,” he added.
The governor emphasized that comprehensive development cannot be achieved by the government alone and reiterated the state’s readiness to welcome more investors. He also called on host communities to support Sahara Energy by creating a conducive environment for its operations, ensuring mutual benefits for both the state and the communities.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of Sahara Energy’s Board, Engr. Funsho Kupolokun, highlighted the significance of the visit as a critical step toward commencing the company’s operations in Ondo State.
Kupolokun, a former Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and a native of Ondo State, said: “We are here to share good news with the Ondo State government, and it must begin with His Excellency. Before commencing operations, we seek the governor’s permission and blessings to ensure a smooth working relationship with the state.”
He commended the governor for fostering an investor-friendly environment and assured that Sahara Energy would comply with all state regulations.
