Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, has been confirmed dead.
PUNCH METRO reported that Akeredolu died in Lagos, in the early hours of Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
Before his death, the late Ondo State Governor battled with an undisclosed disease, which took him out of the country for medical treatment.
However, the following are the 10 things to know about the late Akeredolu:
1. The late Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was born on July 21, 1956, to the family of Reverend J. Ola Akeredolu and Lady Evangelist B. Akeredolu, Owo, Ondo State.
2. Akeredolu attended Government School Owo, his hometown in Ondo State, for his primary school education.
3. He attended Aquinas College Akure, Loyola College Ibadan, and a Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, for his secondary education and High School Certificate, respectfully.
4. He proceeded to the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, to study law, and graduated in 1977.
5. The late Ondo State Governor was called to the Nigerian Bar, as a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, in 1978.
6. The late Akeredolu, before attaining the position of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was appointed Attorney General of Ondo State, from 1997 to 1999.
7. He attained the prestigious position of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 1998.
8. He also served as the Chairman of the Legal Aid Council, between 2005 and 2006.
9. The late Senior Advocate of Nigeria was elected as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association in 2008.
10. Akeredolu contested and won the election, as the executive governor of the Ondo State in 2020 state. The position he held until his death.
The late President of the Nigerian Bar Association however died on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
